New organic farm grows using raised beds, permaculture practices, and follows organic guidelines. Specializing in fruits and vegetables. Working on creating an edible forest garden, using agroforestry and permaculture practices.
My Farms name is COPE Farms. COPE stands for Caretakers Of Planet Earth. COPE also means to adjust to new situations and overcome problems. The problem is todays food supply and the quality of life and food in America. I hope that in some small part my farm may be able to help cope with the fattening of America by providing a healthier safer foods such as organic locally grown produce.
Hurricane Faye destroyed my big greenhouse. What a loss. The wind picked it up turned it over and slammed it into the ground into pieces. The wind has blown panels and parts of it into the woods nearby. I will try to salvage any panels that arent broke and take the metal to be recycled at the metal recycle place in town. What a shame.
What you guys are doing is so cool. I am interested in growing my own food and being more eco aware. I just started a discussion on sustainable gardens maybe you could leave a reply to help me get started on a better garden.

Well to start with the bad news first we have lost two of our chickens. Our white one we named “Precious” of all things was eaten by something outside the fenced in area. And the other one was also a bantam a small grey one. We found its mangled body inside the fence. I have looked for tracks but can’t find any which makes me believe either a hawk or an owl have gotten them. I’m leaning toward a hawk as it was during daylight hours.
On to a good note, we finally got eggs. Apparently someone has been busy for a few days now as I happened to be walking the fence line looking for a possible coyote or fox hole digging under the fence I spot a nest of eggs. 9 to be exact, hidden under one of the bushes next to the fence row. I got them all this morning and went back out later today and found one more. So someone's been a busy girl laying eggs for us and I didn’t eve realize it.
Heres a great short video on Suburban farming. Maybe it will give a few of you some ideas on what you and your neighbors can accomplish.

Glad to hear you will be growing. I think as people learn more about their food, more will turn to organics.
Keep in touch.

Thank you for your comment, it is funny but i have done exactly what you suggested. Last year I planted lots of nitrogen fixing trees all over my vegetable garden to improve its fertility and improve the soil structure (clay) with the leafs. They will also provide some shade for my vegetables. There is too much sun here, without shading nets I can hardly grow anything. I love these trees, most of them have so pretty blossom. I also planted carob trees, they got a bit frost damaged though, i hope they will survive.
There is wild comfrey growing here in shady places, but only in spring, I think later it is too hot and dry.
It sounds very interesting what you are doing there, would like to hear more of it.
hi COPE!
Are you involved with Georgia Organics? I recently was in contact with a woman who was looking for more organic farms in GA. She works with them. Then I saw you here! Just thought I'd ask.
Be well,
Rebecca
