Just perused the Milwaukee Renaissance. Made me homesick. I really enjoyed my time there. I worked at Woodland Pattern Book Center and attended all sorts of art installations, museums, readings, festivals. A lively place and genuine people.
Greetings. I lived in Milwaukee for a while, lived on Downer Avenue near UWM, but attended Marquette in the early 1990s. I remember a lovely community garden on the bus route downtown. I would see people sitting on benches, tending their gardens, lots of lush greens. I remember thinking how wonderful it all was. AND THEN, developers ripped it all out and put up condos. The image still disturbs me.
