Hi i am sorry if i did not right back to thank you. I have had a hard time making the time to even get on here. I am in school full time. I am taking environmental classes for fun. I only need a few classes to get into the nursing program and the rest are classes for what ever i want. So more i learn the better.

I always thought John ate carob too, but I don't know now, and some people do believe that the locusts were insects in his case. If you're not following the vegetarian religions, maybe you want me to find explanations on which insects are inedible and vice versa based on the Bible.

Yes, the vehicle will be full and a little busy/crazy likely. It will be good though.

Is there a place on this site for farming crickets for bait or farming pygmy dairy goats in the yard "just outside the kitchen window"? After the trip, we'd like to get a few goats, and a pet pig. She wouldn't be for food, but more like a dog, but smarter.

I don't think I plan to ever do chocolate or cacao ever again. Seems when I'm eating the right foods, the best cacao or chocolate right in front of me doesn't tempt me at all. I would still want to try the fresh cacao fruit flesh if I ever get the chance though. I heard it tastes almost divine.

I like what Joel said. I have the same experience of your presence.

Outside of gardening, what do you two do for fun?

We're going on a driving trip next week, and bringing our cats, hamsters, live crickets, live meal worms and live catnip with us. The rest is more permanent, and should take care of itself between precipitation and sun. We've brought the cats before, but this will be the first time with these others. Our hamsters are fierce hunters, but have learned not to hunt our hands at least, lol. They look forward to being petted, when they realized we only give them treats (food for them or other than food). They enjoy organic gala apples, freshly grown wheatgrass and gently dried organic zucchini too. We don't do commercial feeds, if I can help it.

Do you know anything about raising crickets for food for humans? It would probably sound strange to most "civilized" people, and I have never tasted one yet, but I have online friends into natural foods who raise and eat them. It was good enough for John of the Bible. I found online which ones according to body shape etc are kosher too. I hear they taste a little like almonds.

I am shocked! You are the kindest, gentlest person online. You are very understanding, you never brag & are always helpful. I can sometimes get on peoples nerves and I am surprised that I have not got a nasty note from a member in the 6 months I have been online....
But not you, I am sorry that some jerk does not have home trainning! I plant most of my plants from seeds after the last frost, summer squash, winter squash, cucumber, beans, peas & corn . I use transplants for peppers, tomatoes,eggplants. However, this year I am going to try growing plants indoors, before last frost. I have heard about cutting your sweet peppers up into chips about the size of a fingernail, laying it out on a cookie sheet in the freezer, then when they are frozen scrape them loose put them in a freezer bag. My Mother did this so she could remove only what she needed to cook with, without defrosting a whole bag. I hope to get blueberries this year also. I have missed your comments on the site & am glad you are back! See you in the garden.

I have been ordering seeds today, and ran across several quick growing radicchio varieties. I only attempted growing this once before and I had a long maturing variety. But seeing these, decided to try it again. I remember that back in the fall you posted about growing radicchio. How did it go. Do you have any tips?

I have not been on here for some time, but do think of you and other friends I have made here often! Imagine this.. up to 2 weeks ago, I was still harvesting carrots and root veggies and also collards and kale from my garden! The kale is now under snow, but still may be good!

How is your winter garden doing. I have collards,onions,turnips that are doing well. My mustard has some pest damage on the outer leaves, it is not bad, my spinach did not even spout, that I can see.
I am going to try red kale this spring.I hope this comment finds you warm & happy.

With ref to the tomatoes. I,ve only once ever had a problem with not being able to eat anything. When i was 16 i worked in a strawberry canning factory for a month. I don,t think i could eat strawberries again for the remainder of my teens, after consuming so many strawberries in that month.

Our tomatoes are now just about finished. Over the last few weeks i have been weaning myself back onto supermarket tomatoes.
When you eat your own tomatoes they seem just like ordinary tomatoes. Its only when you compare them with store bought ones that you realise how poor store bought tomatoes really are.

Thanks, I did not know that about water expanding vertically rather than horizontally. I will keep thinking to find a use for all these wonderful gallon glass jars. I hate to just recycle them.

Do you remember our discussion about a year ago, about the plastic bottles I was using as heat sinks? You and your hubby gave me lots of great advice about how to better use them. Well I need more advice.

Lately we have been consuming lots of apple juice from one gallon glass jars. I got to thinking that unlike plastic would not break down in the garden. So I have thought about filling them with water about 2/3 of the way full, so the jar would not crack if the water freezes. And I was wondering, is glass better storing and releasing heat than plastic?

I'm so glad to hear that you've not suffered any damage or losses to the Georgia rainstorms! I am sorry for everyone who has. Every now and again we have a similar thing happen here in the Pacific Northwest. Fortunately I do not live anyplace where flooding would occur, but many here do. Again, glad to hear that everything's okay!

Hey there, I haven't been on here in quite some time. The kids are back in school now and we have swine flu............just great. My tiny little garden did OK for a first timer. I got some tomatoes and I got lots of herbs and hot chili peppers which I can use lots of in my cooking!
The garden is too shady though and hubby still won't give me any of his precious lawn.:( I'm going to have to use more containers or something next year. I'll be thinking of that over the winter.
I took the photo from my deck and don't know how to rotate it. Also, how did you get such a great page? I'd love some info on how to do this blog style with the great backgrounds.............it makes the page so much more interesting!
