"hi there joel, with regards to your question. I only have eggplant and tomatoes in my garden, but,we did grow corn that was 1 year ago. By the way i'm new here, since i'm an agriculture student currently and i wanted to get some advice or new information with you guys about gardening. Hope you could share your knowledge with me Joel.
This coming january my classmate and I are planning to establish a vermiculture to provide organic fertilizer to our crops and soon we will introduce it to our community. You have any idea about this? maybe you could help us. thank you joel.
Hi there to you both, you sound like from your reply you share the same values in life as Noeme and my self , it looks like there is a big man up there looking over both our shoulders. The rain has gone a Susan our helper from Oregon is taking the opportunity to get out hand see some of this beautiful country. Noeme and I love to know more about where our correspondents live, does your county, town or hamlet have its own web site ? Please forward our web site www.portugal-north.com to some of your friends, look on the second page PHOTO OF THE DAY which is update every day with a new photo of how we live. We are very interested in the climate where you live and the kind of things you grow there
Thank you! How nice for the welcome. Gardening is such a nice diversion to think about as we are expecting a foot of snow in the next 24-36 hours! We are on the Wisconsin/Illinois border, so bad weather just makes us grateful for those bountiful summer months. Look forward to hearing other stories.
Thanks for making me feel welcome Joel. I look forward to making great connections through the site, which I think will be of great benefit particularly in my work through the Community Harvest Project (www.communityharvest.org.au). I invite Kitchen Gardeners to check out the site - it's still needing a lot of work but we are committed, and there is a lot the two groups have in common. Cheers!
We have an American girl staying with us for the next two weeks, she has travelled the world and has spent one year in Asia, she cooked us lunch today Asian style Yumee Yumee all from our organic garden
Hi there thanks for welcoming us. This site looks great, we will have a lot to add to the site once we are up and running, we have hundreds of photos showing Portugal, our garden and our pets. If you have a minute look at our web site www.portugal-north.com It great to meet you and your partner
Hi Joel, not a lake behind me, but we do live on a lake. We have about 5 acres and live on a small, pristine restricted lake (no motorboats, jet skis-only canoes, electric trolling) in the Cascade foothills in Snohomish county, WA. I'll get more pics up when I have time. We work with plant extracts (import and distill/extract ourselves) and I'm developing aromatic demonstration gardens for training workshops.
Hi Joel,
No i hav not seen the site but im on my way.
I love the idea of aquaponics. It is the next logical progression.
Thanks for the tip.
Feel free to keep me updated on ur auqaponics
cheers

Joel, hello. The weather in Arizona is changing. It's been as low as 18 degrees at my house and as high as the low 80s in the last month. Snow is predicted for Flagstaff in the next few days. But, there is a monthly Master Gardener meeting next Thursday night so we're focusing on gardening rather than the snow.
Thanks for the welcome, Joel. We're starting a community garden, with a nice plot of ground, a federal grant, and lots of enthusiasm. Hope to learn a lot from you guys!
Wow Sandra! You've asked for an awful lot of information! Start by checking for your "predicted" last frost date.
There are frost charts online, but the quickest way for you, I think, is to call your county extension agent. He'll be listed in the ph…
Hmmm... we are having lots of sacred snow these days in Baltimore... can't wait for some of it to melt down...
can't wait for spring to get my fingers back in the soil...
Oh gosh, that is rare to get humidity that far south! That is where all our moisture went - we havnt had any rain for over a week :) I started that gemsquash group as I discovered a new member (Margaret Flett) who had gemsquash as her favourite vege…
Yes it's hot but very humid which is unusual. We are having a spell of days in the low 30s but tropical air is being pushed south by the weather systems up north and we are getting rain and humidity. The rain we love - the humidity we are not used t…
yes - the pods are quite tough. We only ate the peas inside and we always ate them green although many Indian people dry them. They are known as toovar dhal in Gujerati or tuvaram in Tamil and there are lots of recipes for them dried. Just google to…
Mary,
so you always shell them? I am entirely in the dark with these, and no more flowers :(... Did you only cook the peas fresh or did you leave some to dry?
I posted a photo of the HUGE luffa I found, and there are lots more making an appearance -…

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.
I would be happy to hear any comments you may have. This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.
I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
Hi Everyone, I've started to collect together recipes from various posts on the site and put them all together here.
If you have a recipe you want to add on here, just post it on the site and leave a comment on my page telling me where it is and I'll go and fetch it back here.
