Thanks You Tar Heel, it is rare, for me to come across someone with my name, before the Beva on this site, I had only heard of 6 others and they were all way older than I.
Thanks for the advice on the tractor, I have it mostly figured out how to build the 3pt hitch for it, and have most of the materials to do so, just have to get around to doing so!
So, hey! How are you? What have you been up to? It's so hot here, I can't stand to go out during the day. In spite of my love for gardening, I'm just not a summer person. It would be easier if I was near some water and could go swimming to escape the heat, but no such luck here. John took my dad fishing on Saturday. Didn't catch anything. The four us will go in the fall (Me, John, Mom and Dad) I think. It's nice in the mornings, when I'm up before sunrise and out in the garden. Just as the light begins, before the sun comes up. This morning it was even a little cool. So lovely. I hope your days are pleasant. Hope everything isn't all work. Be a good boy, and see you later Ed!
Good morning!!!! How are the clouds hanging over there! Dry here! I've got a half dozen baby watermelons, 1 might be ready by July 4, but I doubt it. Lots of squash and cucumbers right now. Still waiting on a large harvest of tomatoes. Just a few cherry toms here and there right now. I sure do miss the NC mountains. Wish I could see them again sometime soon. So where do you hang when you're not in your garden?
Hi Tar Heel! They sure are good little tractors,,,,I still like the Allis-Chalmers like my dad had better, but they are good just the same! Mine needs a new hitch, the original went bad, and I'm planning on making a homemade 3 point hitch for it. I figure I can get a nice big piece of ground worked up into good enough shape for a nice large garden with it,,,,if the hitch works!
Thank you! My internet connection has been sketchy lately, it keeps disconnecting so I am getting bits and pieces but kind of frustrating until my connection gets better out here. I live rurally here in the Ozark mountains.
Ian..Hope your Sunday is as quiet and sunny as mine! My garden grows well! Been having a bunch of rain lately and my tomato plants are HUGE! All in the ground this year ..NOT in pots ,so they are strong stemmed and have supports.. cant wait to enjoy that first tomato and mayo sandwich!! My flowers are blooming in all their glory and my roses have out shined themselves. So how is YOUR garden???
My father-in-law Fred Pond died ten years ago. He loved his garden and I still miss him a lot
especially at this time of year when the seed catalogues start arriving. The Pond family lived
on a seven acre homestead of sorts in Westford Massachuset...
I think this might need it's own category, don't you? Tomatoes are one of the most popular things to grow and we've been placing them in all kinds of groups, but the fact is we almost all grow them, and they have specific needs.
The cooking shows are entertaining, but that's all. Some of my favorite recipes started with notes handed down from family. They're still as good as ever. James Beard, Joy of cooking, and Professional Chefs Manural are good references. I have over...
Greetings everyone :D
Sice we've been having such odd weather this year, I decided to try getting my garlic in the ground this past weekend. Now I hope that it'll all grow nicely.
Donald you lucky to live in an area where you can start a new hive at any time during the year! In New York one could never start a new package in December! =8-o
We'd love to see pix of your current hive. :)
Red osier dogwood is just the best plant for this time of year – cut down some branches – you can find them in fields and ditches and then place them in garden pots or containers. Fill the over-season containers with soil to hold the stems. Attach...
Hi Everyone: I am new to kitchen gardeners and I currently have one bee hive and I am planning on buying one four pound package of bees and a queen in December. If my luck is strong I will also capture a swarm and end up with three total hives goi...
I had not heard of this new link of cell phone towers to CCD, but I believe that CCD is caused by a number of different things and is mostly limited to large scale professional beekeepers that put their bees on large semi-trucks and haul them all ...
Oi! Penelope! The cooking shows are designed to make people who've grown up eating processed foods and without a Fannie Farmer in the house want to go to a restaurant and be demanding, or buy expensive, exotic ingredients that they'll mostly never...
Yes! Sun flowers .I went there yesterday. The site of sun flowers is spactacular. But flowers seem smaller then big variety which I have seen growing their previously.

I don't usually post pic's of myself, so I spend ridiculous amounts of time looking for images that appeal to me.. hehe
