How to Buy Red Worms
By Ann Johnson
eHow Contributing Writer

Live worms can be used as bait when fishing for crappie, catfish, trout and other fish. There are a variety of worm choices on the market. Red worms are thin, reddish worms, smaller in diameter than the chubby nightcrawler. Anglers can typically purchase red worms at bait shops or sporting good stores located near fishing areas where the worm is in demand as bait.

1. Ask the salesperson at the bait shop or sporting good store if they sell red worms, and approximately how many are in a carton.

2. Pay attention to where the red worms are being stored. They should be kept in a refrigerator or a cool, shaded area.

3. Request a small pan to empty the carton of red worms into, in order to check the worms to make sure they are alive and wiggling. Often the bait shop will have a specially made pan that is designed so the worms can be easily poured back into their container after inspection.

4. Dump the worms into the pan. The worms will usually be packed in a bulky, damp, soil material. It may be necessary to separate the clump of worms and packing material with your fingers to view the worms.

5. Reject the carton of worms if they appear unhealthy, dead or significantly less in number than what you were promised.

6. Return the worms to their carton after inspection and replace the carton's lid.

The problem with professional cooks is that they have to add ingredients to foods to make them taste good. The opposite is true for organic home produce, it tastes so good you do not have to add anything to it, good home grown produce is delicious...

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
