I have a jungle!!!

Well I haven't posted for a while but i have a lot to tell you. For a first time garden I think it's going pretty good. Western MT has had ALOT of rain this spring, more wet days than not - which is ok, less forest fires! But the garden looks like a jungle, the mosquitos are so thick that I am having a hard time getting the weeds pulled. On the plus side everything is growing better than I expected. For the last week or two, when I could fight of the bugs, I have had radishes, spinach and lettuc… Continue

An inch+ of snow!!!!

Yesterday I woke to over an inch of snow on the ground. I had been planning to get potatoes started in but now I will need to wait for a few days. At least it didn't last to long and hopefully it will help get more moisture into the ground for later this year. Thank you all for the input, I have been reading up on the crops that Joy mentioned. If all goes well in my life and the worlds align just right I may get into the garden this weekend. Continue

One reason that I want to garden is to reduce the cost of groceries for my family. I hope to grow enough food to put up some for next winter. Wish me l… Continue

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
