Thanks for starting this discussion, John. I've been thinking about this and wondering to myself what role we could play individually and collectively. David Brooks has a commentary worth reading about how difficult it has been to uproot poverty in…

Rhubarb can be used in many ways, but my favorite is rhubarb & strawberry pie. Here's more info, way more info, than you could possibly want on it: http://www.rhubarbinfo.com/ Enjoy!

For those curious, that's a stalk of rhubarb my dad's chomping on. Be careful when trying this at home: rhubarb leaves are poisonous!

I'll bet this place smelled wonderful. I love prunes, and have very fond memories off sneaking the unfinished halves out of my parents dehydrator when I was a kid. you know, moving around the ones left behind to make it look like I hadn't been there…

Roger, will we see photos of your gardening efforts this year? You've been so busy, I wonder if you even have time to garden these days (*she says with a wink and light laugh*). Maine is such a beautiful area of the US. I'd love to get a glimpse of your little piece of the northeast if and when you get the chance. I think many of us would love to see how your Maine garden is growing this year. Best gardening wishes!

Roger, I'm putting together a beginner veggie growing class for my community here in Fayetteville, Arkansas and would love to show your "This Lawn is Your Lawn" video as the intro. Any way I could get a copy to download since I won't have internet access at the classroom site? All the best - thanks for a gem!

Wow Sandra! You've asked for an awful lot of information! Start by checking for your "predicted" last frost date. There are frost charts online, but the quickest way for you, I think, is to call your county extension agent. He'll be listed in the ph…

Yes it's hot but very humid which is unusual. We are having a spell of days in the low 30s but tropical air is being pushed south by the weather systems up north and we are getting rain and humidity. The rain we love - the humidity we are not used t…

HOW TO - ADD A LINK

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again
