Love the bench, the pots, as well as the plants. You put alot of thought in this corner. thank you for sharing

I love the pots, the tall ones could be buried one foot(1/3 of a meter) in the ground. Then filled with soil for planting cucumbers or other vine crops to run down instead of up. thank you.

About Luffah Sponge

The popularity of luffa for personal hygiene products is due to the gentle exfoliating effect the fibers have on the skin. Many environmentally conscious consumers appreciate that luffa products are biodegradable, natural, and a renewable resource. In many other countries luffa is also used to make household cleaning products for scrubbing pots, pans, barbecue grills, tires, and many other surfaces that are not harmed by the abrasive fibers. The tough fibers can also be processed into industrial products such as filters, insulation, and packing materials. Craft shows often exhibit dolls, hats, toys, and other decorative items made from luffa sponges.
Luffa sponges are the fibrous interiors of the fruits of the luffa sponge gourd plant (Luffa aegyptiaca Mill.). A tropical member of the Cucurbitaceae, the luffa sponge gourd plant is an annual vine with tendrils and large, cylindrical fruit that are edible when young.

My Grand Ma’s Antique Chest

Almost every family has an accumulation of old “junk” in an attic, cellar, and closets; usually things that they intend to get rid of some day when they get around to it. Yesterday I open my grand ma’s chest and found all sort of assorted antiques so dear to her. One thing, which drew my attention, was a pouch, containing odd, old coins. My grand father was an engineer and he had to travel a lot during last part of British rule. It was during this travel he developed interest in coin collection.… Continue

It is typically served during a meal or also consumed as a stand-alone savory.
The dish is also consumed at Muslim wed… Continue

Pakistan: “Home Kitchen gardening to crush hunger”.

Like the rest of the world Pakistan is also hit by severe inflation and resulting food shortage. Price of all food commodities has triple during past few years.
One third of Pakistan population is below poverty line and more and more people are falling into poverty trap.
Four to five people in the Pakistan commit suicide every day and a large number of these cases can be attributed to the victims’ inability to make ends meet. Unable to feed the family’s, many poor people are turning to petty cri… Continue

A Buddha Tree.

Talking about trees, a few years back there was a Buddha tree in Islamabad at the foot of the Margalla hills.
It was believed to be several hundred years old .it was a pipal tree (ficus religiosa). Residents of Islamabad were generally unaware of the significance of this tree.
This tree remained unnoticed except that people passing by used to look at its old gnarled branches and wonder about its age.
One day a man from Japanese embassy while jogging took a break in the vicinity of this tree. Sud… Continue

Cactus you saw is used for cows and buffaloes. It is good to get good milking. Traditionally this was used to have good production. Excellent results.

In regards to the catus, Everett is correct it dosnt like being overwatered. There are ones that flower early and some later.
I just read your comment about luffas Salma, I think they are great. I used to grow them and sell them at local markets and put them into soaps that I had made. In Turkey they use them in the villages mostly for washing dishes. I have also seen them used for stuffing matresses. I think they are a very good green solution for many purposes. I am still using a couple I grew in Australia 5 years later.

Hello again Salma, Your favorite food "Mughal" is that a paticular kind of
food or a cuisine? When I look it up I only get references for a famous Indian
restaraunt in Maryland and references to the Mughal Empire.
Oh yes, canabis the nuisance plant, the United States government thinks
it's a nuisance too, they spent untold millions flying around trying to find
it and kill it before someone else finds it and smokes it.

Hello Salma, Kathryn is right it's a zygocatus, My wife Nancy puts it out on the front porch in spring and leaves it there watering occasionally. The porch faces
east so it doesn't get the hot son from about 11AM on. In October when
she sees the first buds appear she brings it in and puts it in a sunny window.
Don't water while it's flowering or they'll fall off. Nan says it thrives on neglect.
We have had some that didn't flower untill December, I'm not sure why this
one flowers now. Maybe it's the particular kind it is.
