I'm not into indeterminate type of tomatoes. I prefer the early bush types and plant them every month from May-August. I think the wait is not worth it. Here we can plant cherry tomatoes early and they will still pump out in Christmas! I recommend...

Dahlias are tubers, Mirabilis spreads its self by shooting out large black seeds. There are some fabulous variegated and some very tall yellows I've seen recently. I'm my zone they are a nuisance. If you'd like some seeds, I'll send you some!

Has anybody tried Malabar Spinach? I'm growing the red stemmed variety. Its a twining vine. It has a slightly oily texture, like okra. Its best eaten raw.

I use the vines in the potted plant arrangements I do. In fact, some rooted into the ground from hanging over the pot and are doing fine. I will try next Spring.

Letti, Thanks for the info. I think I looked into this years ago and abandoned the idea because we don't get hot enough. I know the vine is lovely. We can't grow Jicama either. Jicama leaves turn out to be a natural insecticide; rotenone.

Rose, how was your harvest of malabar spinach? Mine did not do as will as I wanted. The pine roots are taking over my raised bed.

Absolutely! Yes, please do join the NA group! When I created the group I decided it had to be for those of NA blood and those with a spiritual kinship. I'd say you qualify in both ways round-about. Do join!

Hi Rose! Welcome to KGI. We have several members from California, who, like you, are making a living growing other people's gardens. I think that is such a cool idea! I wish all possible success! Look through our groups. I'm sure there are several groups that would interest you. And do leave comments on photos, blogs, discussions, and member pages. That's how we meet and get to know each other, and how we make friends! Speaking of photos, I'm going to go take a closer look at yours and leave a comment here or there. Again, welcome, and best gardening wishes!

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
