Never think your ideas should not be heard. You are right about the KGI being good, just that not everyone knows what is meant by "kitchen garden." Out where I am we never hear the term, and I had to look it up. In almost 60 year that I have lived...

No, you are correct. It does need brevity. The challenge is making something you can carry forward in a timeless fashion. "You Grow Girl" while catchy, does have the hidden "bomb" of destruction when "You go girl" dies out and is replaced by a new...

we share several of the same hobbies/interests....I think gardening is a naturally creative thing and the others just go along with it.

Actually, you could tune a flute... you just need a electronic tuner and they are about $30. I bought a harp a few years ago, and lost the tuner to my husband when he started building flutes! :) I don't know how much the flutes are on the website you mention, but most of the ones my husband builds are in the $100-150 range. He does it for the love of it.. not to make a living.. it is a hobby for him. When someone buys a flute and it resonates with them.. that is his joy! We have many of our friends who have now picked up playing the flute.. since he has been building them.. they can afford to now! Most friends now have multiple flutes and he is even teaching them how to build their own.
It has to be very frustrating for you to lose capacity for what you love to do... but there are ways around everything! We had a friend who was wheel chair bound and a quadriplegic... but he still went hunting every year and every year brought home a deer, a moose and a bear!!! His nephew customized a rifle that he could aim and fire with his mouth!! He put meat on the table in abundance! They were never hungry! He was an inspiration. He was someone that could have had a legitimate complaint... but no one ever heard him complain, He didn't need to... his sister had the same affliction and she was more than miserable!!
So, Phillip... you go do all those things that you have always wanted to... there are ways to enjoy life! You still can sing your worship songs... right inside your own head... the Creator still hears your melody as if it were voiced. Have you ever considered picking up a Native American style drum, or some other type of drum that can be played with one hand? They are an absolutely wonderful way to express your heart song and join in the rhythm of the world around you! We do drum circles frequently... and they are so uplifting!!!
Yes, Old Orchard is not far... just up the coast a few miles... We affectionately call it "Tacky Town", and that is because it was always a summer party spot and there is an amusement park right there on the beach. The beach is really very nice... and they have great pier fries that are always served with white vinegar (not catsup)!!! And, oh, one has to get the fried dough with the powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar! YUM!

We would love to go off the grid, but our mountain valley precludes solar because we don't get enough, and putting solar panels on the house would involve getting involved with the county, and we don't wanna have to do that. So we will just have to buy carbon offsets for our energy use.

I've seen a lot of people who depend on Solar who also have a back up wind turbine to catch the wind when the sun isn't shining. Maybe that's the best method.

Oh, and one other thing, check out my photos... my husband is also a wood worker... his craft is making tuned Native American flutes. And I'm a bread baker... so nothing at all odd about you! :) We are all in the same boat!

Hi Phillip,
I was reading your comments to Joy, and I want to say I am grateful for our animal companions... and glad that you have ones who watch faithfully over you. Many years ago, I owned a service business, and had opportunity to see, learn about and get to know people with service dogs. Snickers was my first experience with a service dog. When Irene first got Snickers (a black Lab), we were not allowed to even make eye contact with him. I felt so bad to ignore him, but understood it was critical that he bonded with Irene. After a space of time passed, we were allowed to greet him, and interact. He was a wonderful dog! He never wavered in his loyalty to Irene and happily accepted us into his world. Snickers faithfully served her for 10 years, and even when he retired, he still was our "greeting committee". Snickers would struggle up off the floor to come visit with us, while Irene's younger service dog stayed by her side. He knew how to pass the torch. :)
Another dog that was a pet of one of my customers, was a spaniel. This dog served the same purpose that your dogs do.. but this dog did it out of instinct, it was not trained. She stopped breathing in the night, and the dog noticed and woke up her husband.. in time to save her life! She grieved so deeply when a short year later this same dog died suddenly and she could not return the favor.
So, I send to you prayers for restored health, and may your 4 legged's enjoy a wonderful life in your care!
:)

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
