My daughter is a fiddler, started out Scottish/Cape Breton and moved on to bluegrass with some Acadian on the side at the wizened age of eight. Whisky Before Breakfast remains a favorite.

Thanks! I like your garden beds -- I've been wondering if I should make mine higher, so my plants could have deeper roots. (Either that, or rent a post-hole digger and dig more into the subsoil.)

I see you're a weaver as well. I got a 4H counterbalance loom last year and am just starting to dip my toe back into weaving.

The dill here self-seeds like crazy. I usually leave the volunteers in the path, so I get to use whatever the caterpillars don't get. I think the caterpillars I see are tiger swallowtails; they like my parsley, too. I haven't grown many onions, but I'm growing more leeks this year -- I left most of last year's leeks in the garden over the winter and was able to harvest them this spring.

Your garden photo is lovely. we had an unusually cold spring and my tomato plants are just now looking like they want to grow. I too have lovely lettuce. My radishes didn't do well. I have planted more. Great onions from sets, so far and a row from seed to use later in the year. And I have dill -- in the past something has always eaten it. so far this year, it looks like it's going to make it. I put some in a pasta salad and in a sauce for fish. If my cucumbers make it, I'll have some nice pickles, but I shan't count my chickens/cucumbers before they hatch.

I like Sissinghurst also -- I noticed on that silly JEEVES AND WOOSTER British comedy that scenes were shot with Wooster strolling through Sissinghurst gardens -- lovely.

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
