Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....
First type the text you want to appear.... ie IAN'S PAGE
Then go back and highlight the link text.
Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.
Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message. Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.
I would be happy to hear any comments you may have. This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.
I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.

Hi Everyone, I've started to collect together recipes from various posts on the site and put them all together here.
If you have a recipe you want to add on here, just post it on the site and leave a comment on my page telling me where it is and I'll go and fetch it back here.
They are organised in Contributor Order but I'm open to better suggestions!

We did all our own canning and freezing on the farm. Not much came from the grocery store. I still try to provide all that I can for us from my garden.
You would enjoy some of the stories that I have in my book! One of my favorites is titled "Grandpa don't chase pigs, uh-uh!" Then there is "Jimmy & the Mustache Wax"... oh, I have stories!!! Some are funny, some are poignant. All are a lesson of some sort.

Yes, growing up on a farm was a good experience. It was challenging at times, but we learned early how to get our hands dirty! An not be wimps! We lived on top of a hill and the wind blew in one side of the house and out the other! We heated with wood only, and had the rustic old out house until I was 17 years old! Showering meant a warm summer's eve and a trip to the milk house where there was hot running water!
I am currently writing a family book, and I am re-telling all my Dad's stories from the years that he farmed. It is quite the project!
Now, I live in Maine on 5 acres of mostly woodland. I love it. I miss my homeland too, but this is where I am now. I have actually lived most of my life in Maine...over 30 years now. The hardest part of doing the research for my book from afar.
When I am done with this book, I am making a copy for each of the grandchildren in the family... so they know their heritage.
Gardening was a passion for my Dad. He would plant it and we women would do the rest. Even after my Mom died, he still had his yearly garden, just a smaller one. My dad grew the best sweet corn I have ever tasted!
