Looks like just plain old garlic to me too !! Perhaps you tossed some out without realizing it !! Normally it is harvested in the fall but the bulbs are much sweeter if harvested earlier !! You can dig around the root and see how big the bulbs are...

That looks like garlic to me . has it flowered ? Garlic flowers have a little garlic like node which tastes amazing. looks like it has sprouted from last years cloves.

Sure looks like regular garlic plants to me. It looks as though an entire bulb was planted in the same hole. If it is garlic you will be able to harvest it when about 2/3 of the leaves are dead. Hope this helps and keep us updated....................

The photo is here. I'm not sure if this is onion, wild garlic, ramps? The greens taste chive like. Last summer, they put out shoots at one point with whitish round balls. Would love identity advice and ideas of when to harvest them! Thank you!

Can anyone identify this? Is it wild garlic, ramps? The greens taste like chives. At some point the will make shoots with white round bulbs coming off of them. Would love to know what it is, and when to harvest, thanks!

Hi Heidi, welcome to KGI. I'm sure you'll find the site interesting, we're a pretty friendly bunch. You'll find all manner of discussions in the forum (follow the link in the top navigation bar) and there is also a notes section where I can put stuff that may be of interest to members. I don't eat turnip greens but some people use them in a mixture of other leaves i;e.mustard, fenugeri ,spinach and turnip greens.These leaves are collected when very young, the variety is also different.

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again
