All the potatoes we've ever grown were certified seed potatoes. We were out in the potato patch yesterday, digging around. Only found a couple VERY tiny little guys before we decided to let them rest for a while. Maybe more through winter. It's ve...

Hi Donna,

I know that spring is busy. No, I haven't found a leafminer resistant beet... haven't tried as hard as I should... I am still getting beets even though the leaves look ugly.

I have started a new venture of a small farm that I am hoping to sell produce to retreat centers. I know it is a bit nuts but I have always wanted to try my hand at actual farming. My mini-farms are going pretty well... but as I suspected about Santa Cruz, hardly any of them are going the "traditional" route of the backyard CSA approach and much of my work seems to be in the consulting arena.

Again, I appreciate so much all of the support you gave me in starting my business. Never thought I'd be a business woman, and I still have a lot to learn, but this is obviously a good business venture if one can turn a profit only two months after starting it (or in your case right away) even in the midst of a recession. I'm happy people have food in this precarious time. thanks again. Love, Batya

OH!! You're famous. One of my volunteers sent me some article on you. What a BRILLIANT idea! I give to you the Ephemeral Golden Carrot award for Brilliant Ideas. (it is "ephemeral" because it has to be sent electronically or telepathically so you don't actually get a golden carrot except for what you can dream about!).

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
