Personally I would not cut toe bottom of the pot off, the roots will grow into the ground and then be ripped up when you moved the tree-not good for the plant!

Hi Maxine, That's good to know, thanks! I figure if I get 1 pumpkin, it's a good return on my investment of 8 total pumpkin seeds. I actually planted them all out early in April (I was sure they'd all die) in stacked tires. Since you have curran...

Hi Cherylfah. Welcome to KGI. This is a really great website, and I hope you'll think the same before too long. Our members are professionals and amateurs, beginners and long-time gardeners. Some garden on acres of land, some on lots, some in containers, and at least one on her window sill! I hope you will take the time to peruse our membership. I'm sure you'll find members with interests similar to your own, and I know there are KGI members in your area. Do a search in the membership section and you'll find them.
We have a lot of great groups. Front yard gardening, Gardening in General, Container Gardening... some are specific to areas around the country. Look them over, and join as many as you like.
The forum discussions are always interesting, informative, and fun to participate in. The blogs are also interesting and informative, and sometimes sentimental. Lots of folks post great recipes on their blogs.
And the photographs are absolutely inspirational!
Enjoy yourself at KGI, And, oh, leave comments! Anywhere and everywhere! Members really enjoy getting comments on their pages, blogs, forums, and photos, and responding to them. It's mutually enouraging to do so.
Best wishes, and Happy Holidays!

HOW TO - ADD A LINK

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
