Incredible work you are doing, bringing change in a time when it is most needed. A rooftop garden leads to a no excuse for not growing lifestyle. It seems any small space , balcony etc would work. Keep us up to date on what is happening and how your watering system ends up working.

I'm fascinated by your project. I'm an urban gardener in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and although I do have a small yard, I'm always looking for ways to expand my growing space. I've been interested in the "green roof" concept but it's a major engineering project and well beyond my current means, and not necessarily a great way to grow food crops. . This looks like somehing I can easily try out on a small scale. Is it all right if I add you as a friend? I want to keep tabs on your growing season this year.

Be sure to keep us all posted on your rooftop garden! In Los Angeles, rooftop gardens could bring about a lot of very positive changes, but there is precious little REAL data about them; usually just a lot of negative hyperbole. The truth is though, we have to change a lot of SOMETHINGS and roof top gardens may be one of the most positive changes we CAN make.

Hi Mike There is nothing tastier than fresh pulled carrots. Of any vegetable i think there is the biggest difference between shop bought carrots and home grown carrots.

Hi Amna My garlic is now over hand high as well. I planted it a bit earlier than normal this year, but it seems to have appreciated it. I,m looking forward to some large bulbs next year. I hope your foggy weather has now cleared!

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
