Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....
First type the text you want to appear.... ie IAN'S PAGE
Then go back and highlight the link text.
Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.
Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message. Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.
I would be happy to hear any comments you may have. This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.
I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.

Hi Everyone, I've started to collect together recipes from various posts on the site and put them all together here.
If you have a recipe you want to add on here, just post it on the site and leave a comment on my page telling me where it is and I'll go and fetch it back here.
They are organised in Contributor Order but I'm open to better suggestions!

I am finishing up harvesting blackberries. The blueberries were done awhile back. The first year for a heavy crop of blackberries and I have been pleased. Anywhere from 1 to 4 pints every other day for about 2 months. The peaches are now taking over duty from the blackberries on our morning cereal. Red Haven is a great peach in taste and earliness as well as having a long season of ripening. We have been eating them for about 3 weeks now.
My gladioli are declining, but the Dahlias are now in full bloom and I have about 50 of them, so the house is always with flowers. We canned 28 jars of Gravenstein apple sauce yesterday. Life is busy, but life is good!
I have recently bought a very small, Victorian cottage in McCook, NE, where I live. There are four, very large, Honey Locust trees out front between the sidewalk and the street. My goal is to plant green and white varigated hostas between the trees in the spring. No one seems to have ever done that around here and it would be the achor of my front yard garden.

I don't think I left a message the other day when I got your invitation as a friend. I salute you for tearing out the lawn and growing veggies. I have a large lawn, but I live on 10 acres so I am not short on growing vegetables and fruit in other places, though having a large lawn without having sheep to mow it is a waste of energy! I justify or rationalize it in part by the fact that I don't have AC and use the greenery to keep the place cool.
I garden on a rather large and crazy scale, but I love doing it and it is a full time job. I have a small orchard of about 0.5 acres and grow lots of fruit and nuts. Blueberries and black berries are my most recent additions. My garden is large-at least 1/4 acre with lots of flowers as well as vegetables and there is a vineyard for wine making+ table grapes. All in all enough to keep me out of trouble and I sleep well
I thought I would like to get to Europe and England in particular to see some of the noted gardens, but I don't have any desire anymore. I did make it to Ireland once and that is as close as I got to England. I am sure the Dutch are good gardeners from all that I have seen and read so you no doubt learned a lot while there..
Later,
