I want to learn more about that too. When would that be more beneficial than just plain casting tea?

What's are "effectives micro-organisms" and what's use of it?
It's a mixture of 80 different strains of micro-organisms selected by the Japanese Dr Teruo Higa .It are natural strains found in the nature and cultivated with out manipulation or modification
The Actif EM are the same strains multiply by fermentation with out oxygen with sugar can molasses
What use of it? :
-To brake the development of the harmful micro-organisms and increase the beneficial ones .
-To treat the disease of plants
-To fertilize the ground
-To activate the compost and reduce the unpleasant smells
-Personal hygiene
-water sanitization

I found a site on vermicomposting Trench, Dr. robert Linderman, Endomycorrhizae laced fertilizing, but nothing on how a home owner could activate thier on wormcastings.
I will keep looking, if you find something Please share.

Normally to combine the EM(effectives micro-organisms ) composting with vermicomposting you have to do one after the other in the correctly order because the EM need totally different live conditions than the compost worms.
The EM 's are fermentation micro-organisms that we also use for making wine, bear, sauerkraut ,bred with leaven and they don't support oxygen because with oxygen the classic compost micro-organisms compete with them.
To speed up vermicomposting you can digest first the fresh organic matter in anaerobic condition in same method to make sauerkraut by adding a EM preparation that you can buy on a site.(liquid form to activate with molasses or solid :Bokashi.) After around 3 weeks (depends of the temperature) EM compost is ready but it's a very acid product and you have to add a source of calcium. Than you have two possibility : use him directly to feed the ground or you give this predigested matter to your worms with caclium and so you obtain a superior fertilization product because it's activate all form of live in your ground and also the metabolism and disease resistance of the vegetables. They growing faster and have a better taste.

Thank you again,
This is all new to me.
As a kid, redworms would show up with out any help from man. We only use them as fishing bait. Now everyone says redworms can not live in soil. Then what did they get from one compost pile to another on the farm? I guess it does not matter .
Like many things I never heard of EM before I found this site. IAN has done a great thing here!!!
