Hi, when you say no animal products , are you saying no compost from manure or vermicompost? How then do you heat up your heap, even with green & brown layers this would take some time to break down. If you have a "plant only" way of speeding this up please share . thank you .

Hi Pamela,
I make green smoothies everyday too!! And I also eat a lot of raw foods, and mine taste so good, cause the veggies are picked right before prepared!!! My garden is one of my greatest joys.
Yesterday I picked cukes, summer squash, tomatoes, sno peas and peppers. The strawberries stopped producing, but I still have a bowl of blackberries.

Maria, my husband and I are trying to get into raw food. We make green smoothies everyday to get our day started, and are sprouting and I'm reading recipes to practice with. I began with Victoria Boutenko's books.

Hi ladyherb:
Your comment about juicing cukes and greens sounds like a raw food concotion to me... Are there any raw foodists here?

Good day! I am getting started in straw bale gardening this year. Can't wait to start juicing some cukes and greens. And I really love my herbs!

I've been in the public library now for 21/2 yrs. and as of yet haven't
been able to coax an invitation into an organic-vegative-gardening
opportunity. I've done some chickenmanure gardening on anothers place-
that had an interesting effect on the plant's phytochemical chemistry.
I'm still collecting seeds though.

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
