I think tomatoes are the most time-consuming plants to grow! Not out in the garden, but on the computer. I posted some photos a while back of my heirloom black russian thinking I had virticulum wilt, and Joy did a lot of research and posted photos and I got to thinking maybe that I didnt have that.
Then when a first tomato formed I thought I had blossom end rot - Michelle helped me out there, the blossom just had not fallen off.
I cut off all the leaves that werent doing what I thought they should be doing (older leaves) and just carried on as usual. Now I read this posting and think ohmigosh, maybe that is what my tomato has! My plant is forming new tomatoes all the time although none are ripe yet. honestly! none of my other plants get this much attention!
BTW The bushy cherry tomatoes are springing up all over the place without a care in the world.

Kay, concerning the amount of rain you are getting, as long as your tomatoes are getting good drainage, you might be okay. Look for Leaf roll, when both sides of older leaves roll inward toward each other and even touch. That's a sign that the soil is retaining too much water. At that point you might want to find a way to cover them/off-set the amount of water.

The leaves on mine are not spotting. I think it would be more curling than just turning.

The rain is not all day but we have had almost 20 inches. If I did not have raised beds I don't think I would have much garden left.

Joy, and Kay... are the leaves of your tomato plants spotting or discoloring at all? Are the leaves turning or curling? I might be able to identify the problem. Maybe.

all day? If so I might consider putting up a clear plastic tarp over them to deflect some of the rain off...

I have had that too but only on the top row of leaves.

I have a different problem. It has rained for 14 days in a row here. So far my tomatoes have not split but they do not seem to be growing. The new blooms are all turning brown too.

Is there anything I should be doing or just wait and see what happens.

ok, I'll start! I've been seeing something with my tomato plants that I can't quite figure out. The leaves are turning upside down. What is this an indication of?
