Top 10 things to grow in the summer heat...

As Spring (all 2 weeks of it) winds down here in SE Texas, I am planning what to do with my 8 beds until the late-summer/ fall season. I am hoping to get a top 10 list of things that do well in the summer heat, assuming water is not an issue. I will start with a couple of obvious items:

1. New Zealand Spinach
2. Cucumbers
3. Okra
4. Second planting of sweet corn
5. ___________________

Definitely sweet potatoes. Oven-baked chili-fries, now that's good as well as healthy. Sweet potatoes did very well last year in our garden.
Thank you for reminding me I still have to find seed for New Zealand Spinach - forgot to look the last few trips out.

I wanted to plant some corwder peas but every place I have checked has sold out. I will know to order them early next year.; ▶ Reply to This

Winter squash
Peppers of all sorts but the hot ones seem to do best in the hotter part of summer
Annual herbs - basil is my favorite.
