Turnip greens, collards, kale and mustard are all showing green through the snow. I am expecting them to bounce back tasty and bountiful.

We are an hour south of Nashville, cold, snow and ice and just plain "wintery."

Although I love it, I'm looking forward to the spring.

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone~

Ok, thanks for the heads up on covering the greens. I have some brussle sprouts that were just making and some kale also. I will leave them alone and see what happens.

Willis is in Georgia. I just received and planted several fruit trees from them today. This was my first time to order from them. The plants were healthy, packaged well, and shipped fedEx, so I got them in 2 days. And the dept of ag certification in the box verified that the plants were grown in GA. They had a nice selection and fruit and nut trees. I highly recommend them.

P.S. The image didn't copy--it looks like a sprouting broccoli with ivory-colored cauliflower-like buds.

Seed search! Although it is in the UK catalog, Thompson & Morgan US (tmseeds.com) says this about perennial broccoli, not sold in US: "Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with a another source. However, you could try your local nursery or County Extension Office.
If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,

Customer Service"

I've emailed UT extension. Anyone else know this broccoli? See below

Broccoli : Nine Star Perennial
* 1 packet (100 seeds)
* Price: £2.19

I love the Baker Creek company, we are planning a trip there next year.

I think it's a given that this group opts for heirloom or at least organic seed.

If not, be aware that many seeds are now sterile and will not produce more than once.

Blessings for your day.

I did not cover my collards either, but wish I had, that would have kept the chickens from eating them. But to answer your question, they should continue to send up new leaves. Mine have a few sprouts already. Growth will be slow because the days are so short, but once Feb. gets here, and the sun is a little higher, things should pick up.

My kale leaves are all limp (did not cover those either) and damaged from the cold, but I am waiting for new tender growth on them also.

Hello all! I am glad to see you all. How are your preserved stores holding out?
I put collards in this fall, and picked heavily befroe the freeze. They are exposed, and got frozn, will they come back or is it time for the composte?

Wow Sandra! You've asked for an awful lot of information! Start by checking for your "predicted" last frost date. There are frost charts online, but the quickest way for you, I think, is to call your county extension agent. He'll be listed in the ph…

Yes it's hot but very humid which is unusual. We are having a spell of days in the low 30s but tropical air is being pushed south by the weather systems up north and we are getting rain and humidity. The rain we love - the humidity we are not used t…
