Kitchen Gardeners

I think it's a beautiful idea. Whilst I was waiting for my link, it occurred to me this would be quite incredible when juxtaposed with a labyrinth.
The idea of sacred/medicinal/shamanic creates so much linkage warmth and inclusion. I will be sure to pass the idea along. What an incredible opportunity to bridge all sorts of groups - children, religious, mystical, community, First Nations/Native Americans, Celtic, IK (indigenous knowledge) - ad infinitum!
THANK YOU!

I want to build a labyrinth in our yard and include plantings at the path edges so it doesn't have a manufactured appearance.
I'm looking for information from others who've done it, seen it done, or have information on how to avoid mistakes.
Thank you.

Hi Pamela. We had a forum discussion last fall about Labyrinths and Medicine Wheel Gardens. Here is the link (you might have to do a cut and paste to get to it.):
http://my.kitchengardeners.org/forum/topics/has-anyone-grown-a-laby...
It is a very short discussion. Only a handful of members responded, but it indicates that there are those who, like you, want to do it.
KGI member, Beva is the one I know who has done anything like this. She lives in Maine, and although she doesn't have a labyrinth, she has a beautiful Medicine garden.
New KGI member, Mare Cromwell started a Sacred Gardening group a few days ago. I think that group may eventually discuss plants and designs for labyrinths and Medicine gardens, and other sacred gardens. I'm interested in a having a Labyrinth garden myself. I can get enough information on the internet, just don't have time and money to make one right now. Other priority home and garden projects to do first. But I am making my vegetable garden a meditative garden as well.
Perhaps it's time for someone to add a discussion to the Sacred Garden group asking about designs, plants for the project, and the advise of others who've done it. I'll think that one over this early morning.
Best gardening wishes, Pamela! mwf

Sorry to bother you with my question, ED. I just joined this site and didn't do a search before I posted my question.

Labyrinth gardens are becoming more common as people seek beauty, sustainability and spirituality in their own back yards.
I have seen and experienced traditional stone lined labyrinths, but I find them a bit dull. I think it would be far more interesting to walk a labyrinth that has plants and crystals and things to keep your attention centered and focused on why you are doing this activity in the first place. I have always felt that a seat or small garden bench in the center would offer a place to rest and reflect before you complete your walking meditation back out of the labyrinth. I am always thinking outside of the box just a little bit!

HOW TO - ADD A LINK

Several people have experienced difficulty putting working links into comments and blogs etc and I know it is clumsy.... so here is how you do it.....

First type the text you want to appear....  ie  IAN'S PAGE

Then go back and highlight the link text.

Then hit the hyperlink button...a pictogram of a chain link.

Your browser may intervene and request permission to allow temporary scripting or some similar message.   Allow it and go back and highlight the text again

Forum Policy

Hi, I'm starting to put together a few guidlines on using the discussion forum on here.

I would be happy to hear any comments you may have.  This is very much a work in progress so plese feel free to ask me to add anything you think is needed.

I don't want to make our community hide bound by rules and regulations but I think that, as the community has grown, some explanation of what is expected is needed.
